How do you encourage broodiness?!

I. Want. Babies.

My girls will sit for 8+ hours for 3 days in a row and then not go back.

What I've done is use the fake eggs to make a clutch, then as they lay their own eggs, I remove one of the fake and mark the laid one. So far I've only gotten to day 3... three times in a row. After day 3, it's like none of them are interested in sitting anymore.

I'd love to hear tips and tricks from those who have hatched eggs the "all natural" way. I do not want to use an incubator, and do not want to separate mom from the flock. I'm just stumped as to why they won't sit after 3 days!

(Mabel and Henrietta before boredom kicks in and they become deadbeat moms. Sigh.)
