3 Week Itinerary in December and January
Our take
We’re planning to go to Vietnam for just under three weeks in December and January. I’ve already drawn up a rough itinerary.
We’re both 36 and want to take it easy. So I’ve tried to plan as few stops as possible. I think 3 to 4 nights per stop will suit us well. We’ve just come back from Taiwan, where we often only stayed 2 nights per stop, which took up a bit too much of our travel time.
We enjoy exploring cities, eating in restaurants (vegan), visiting museums, doing a bit of hiking, and taking in the natural scenery.
I’ve left out the central coast due to the high likelihood of rain. We’ll definitely fly there another time.
Itinerary:
Hanoi – 4 nights (2 full days for the city, 1 day trip to Ha Long Bay)
Ninh Binh – 3 nights
Da Lat – 4 nights
Ho Chi Minh City – 4 nights (2 full days for the city, 1 day trips to the Mekong Delta)
Phu Quoc – 4 nights (2 full days to relax on the beach, 1 full day to explore the island)
Does this look alright? Or should I add anything or leave something out altogether? Thanks!

Ho Chi Minh City. I need to travel back home on the 11th of January. I really wanted to see Hoi An, is it possible? I know it may be rainy, so not really sure if it's worth it. Should I stay somewhere longer and finish in Ho Chi Minh City? I would have to travel back home from Ho Chi Minh City. Any other suggestions are very welcome. We are more onto quiet holidays, don't really like partying or crowded cities. Would love to stay somewhere for a couple of relaxing days hence Koh Samui. We are both foodies, love nature, hiking and history. Mid budget. Thanks in advance! submitted by /u/walk_sleep_walk_more [link] [comments]
- Vietnam in November—looking for feedback on an itineraryMy partner and I are planning our honeymoon in Vietnam this November and would love some feedback on our itinerary before we commit. Here’s our tentative plan: Day 1: Arrive in Hanoi late Days 2-3: Hanoi Days 4-6: Ha Long Bay (or Bai Tu Bay) cruise Day 7: bus to Ha Giang Days 8-10: Ha Giang loop Day 11: finish Ha Giang loop —> Hanoi Days 12-13: Ninh Binh (stay in Tam Coc) Day 14: Ninh Binh —> Hanoi —> HCMC Days 15-16: HCMC We’re a pretty active couple and don’t mind long travel days, but this is a honeymoon so we also want some time to relax. Street food is also a priority. Initially we were going to end the trip with a few nights in Phu Quoc, but decided against it. Feel free to talk us back into it. submitted by /u/RebeccaBuck95 [link] [comments]
- Vietnam itineraryHi there, first time visitor to Vietnam from Australia with my girlfriend, we are both 31. We have just over 2 weeks there so want to get the right balance of seeing Vietnam but also not constantly moving around trying to do too much. This is a rough itinerary we have put together, we'd be keen for any feedback on it and advice. We'd love to do the Loop as a priority for our trip. We like exploring the outdoors but also learning about history/culture/nightlife. This trip would be end of May and into June. We understand it is rainy in alot of these areas but are okay with it We think breaking down our trip to 3 segments, exploring the north including the ha giang loop - the centre for beach and relaxation and then finish back at HCM. Any help is much appreciated ! - Is this Vietnam + Cambodia itinerary good?Hi everyone! Planning a Vietnam + Cambodia trip for December 13–27 and wanted opinions on the distribution of nights and whether you’d change anything. Current itinerary: Ho Chi Minh City – 3 nights Siem Reap – 4 nights Hoi An – 3 nights Hanoi – 4 nights Planned activities: Explore Ho Chi Minh City + Mekong Delta day trip Explore Siem Reap + Angkor Wat sunrise + temple day + Kulen Mountains day trip + Floating village day trip Explore Hoi An + Da Nang (possibly Ba Na Hills) Hanoi sightseeing + Ha Long Bay day trip Does this distribution sound balanced to people who’ve done similar routes? Would you change the number of nights anywhere? submitted by /u/Stunning-Fee-9153 [link] [comments]
