84 day Schengen Area journey. Lisbon-Paris then onward. Ireland or Georgia.
Our take
Hello thanks to those who can give advice and or contribute to this. I land in Lisbon on June 2nd coming from the US. I am excited to make this journey and to explore the great spots within the Schengen Countries. As someone who served in the military I have always loved the cultures of other Countries. This is just somewhat of a rough draft but places I would love to explore Sicily and Italy being the biggest one. I am 44 so not to young and I am in no rush to do this from start to finish. I am just curious and would like advice. Open to ideas. I will most likely use flights as my means between areas but not against any other forms of transportation.
Portugal-Lisbon and Porto.
Spain-Madrid, Valencia and Barcelona.
Italy-Sicily, Naples, Rome, Pisa, Florence, Milan, Tirano (this is where I would like to take the train into the Mountains.
Switzerland-Lake Moritz, Zurich
Germany-Munich, Nuremberg
Czech Republic-Prague
Germany-Berlin
Neterlands-Amstredam
Belgium-Brussels
France-Paris
I would then either goto Dublin, Ireland or head off to Tbilisi, Georgia and wait for good weather to head to SE Asia. I have not looked into other options. But I just would like to travel around long term.
I love culture and meeting new people. I am in no rush to do this as I could very well just stay in Italy the whole time, haha. I will for sure be coming back to explore more as well so this isn't like a once in a lifetime have to do thing. Just want to narrow down what to do and see.
Thanks in advance for your help and ideas.
Side note: I am not against any other means of transportation and really no budget.

- ~6 Month Europe & Asia TripHey y’all! Not exactly sure where to post this, but my husband and I are planning a trip for the year 2029 and are starting to build our itinerary. Our locations will be (this is a rough draft, so we’re open to changing them): -Spain (2 weeks - Madrid, Barcelona, Malaga) -Switzerland (1 week - Lauterbrunnen) -Italy (2 weeks - Rome, Florence, Bologna, Venice) -Bosnia & Herzegovina (10 days - Sarajevo, Mostar) -Montenegro (1 week - Kotor) -Albania (10 days - Sarandë, Tirana) -Greece (2 weeks - Athens, Naxos, Crete) -Japan (2 weeks - Tokyo, Kyoto, Osaka) -Philippines (10 days - Manila, Palawan) -Vietnam (1 month - North) -Thailand (1 month - Chiang Mai/Islands) -Indonesia (If leftover money/time, Lombok) We’ve already been to Thailand, Vietnam, and Indonesia (Bali), but are going to knock out a ton of places on our bucket list. We love everything: good food, good architecture, swimming/hiking/adventuring, etc. We don’t really party or drink much, and like to relax and go with the flow a majority of the time. We’re budget/mid travelers, so we’re still crunching the numbers to see what our cost would be, excluding flights (eurail pass? airbnb’s? boats? cooking/restaurants?). It’s totally a toss of a coin, so we’re kind of just looking at other people’s averages right now to get an idea. We’re thinking between $30-50k USD. Here’s a few of our questions for y’all: If any of you love a certain country on the list and have something that travelers can’t miss, what is it? We’re totally flexible and willing to add/take away days to see more things. What are some money saving tips in each country, if you have been there/lived there? Would love to add to our ever-growing list, and just trying to cover all of our bases! What food would y’all recommend we try? We’re adventurous when it comes to good eats, so we’d love to hear y’all’s experiences! While we’re in the area, are there any countries/cities we should stop in? We’re going to most likely have a few extra spots on our Eurail pass. If there’s any other stories/tips/tricks y’all have, we would absolutely love to hear them. We’re excited for this trip of a lifetime! Thanks in advance! submitted by /u/i_love_travel_ [link] [comments]
- First time Europe trip Itinerary (early draft)Making my first trip overseas. I’m an experienced road tripper on the lower 48 but this will be a new experience. I have done some research but wanted the perspective of real people who have been there before Heading out in Early September. Fly into Milan. Planning on spending 3 days in Northern Italy. After that head up to the Jungfrau area of Switzerland to spend 3 days there. Then off to Germany for a couple days. Be visiting my Aunt and Uncle near Ansbach for a couple days. Thinking about stopping at the castle of Mad King Ludwig on the way up. After that head down to Austria to spend a day. Then it will be off to Slovenia to spend 4 full days. Then end the trip with a trip to Plitvance Lakes National Park before flying home out of Zagreb. Thoughts? I am having trouble narrowing down Italy. Sounds like the Dolomites will be difficult to fit in with going to Switzerland after. For my interests of Nature, history, and local culture Verona sounds like a must. Then either Lake Como or Venice. I have heard mixed reports on Venice. Some say it has one of the best preserved history you can find. Others says it’s overrated, overcrowded, and the canals stink. I’m also unsure what to do in Austria. Any suggestions to compliment the other stops? submitted by /u/80GradeScrewball [link] [comments]
- [updated] looking for advice/feedback on my 2 month Europe itineraryI posted a few days ago a rough itinerary for a 2 month Europe trip I am going on next summer but got a lot of feedback saying it’s way too rushed , I’m just seeing cities etc etc. I cut some places and added a bit of information to justify why I’ve picked the places I’ve picked The purpose of this trip as a 23yo is to lounge on beaches, party, and explore historical sites . - I’m moving abroad to live and would like to stop somewhere along the way. I’m looking to experience something new that will challenge my perspectivesHello everyone! At the end of the year I’m moving to Japan and I would like to make a stop somewhere along the way (Spain > Japan). I have never experienced real culture shock and I would like to go somewhere that will show me something I’m unfamiliar with, surprise me in some way, challenge me or help me learn to appreciate something new. For some background, I grew up in New Zealand but have lived in Spain since I was young. Travel-wise, I’ve been to Japan several times, S.Korea twice, Thailand twice, Indonesia, India and Uzbekistan twice, as well as around Europe. I come from a travel family where both my parents travel for work, as do I, and my siblings have lived in Myanmar and Peru so I’m also familiar with those two areas. At the risk of sounding like a snob, I think I generally know the world quite well and have been lucky to be able to move around and meet all sorts of people, so I’m finding it difficult to land on a destination that might be truly challenging from a cultural perspective in Europe/Asia. I would like to visit Africa and Latin America but they aren’t really “along the way” in this case, and I think it’s better to leave those areas for the future when I can give them the time and energy they deserve. I’m looking more at Asia/Europe this time around. I briefly thought of Georgia / Azerbaiyan / Armenia but I think they’re quite familiar already. Or Egypt / Jordania / Oman, but I’m a young (30 y/o, if that counts as "young" :P ) woman travelling alone and might want to join a tour for those countries, which is out of my budget at this time. I'm thinking Western China might be a good option but I’m open to other ideas. TL;DR: Somewhere culturally or ideologically different, safe for a solo woman, somewhere located between Spain and Japan. Thanks! submitted by /u/NotACaterpillar [link] [comments]
