Any Trip Ideas? I won a travel gift card
Our take
Hi everyone! My bf (26m) and I(25f) this year wanted to plan a small (by small I mean cost effective but decently fun/relaxing) trip and ultimately two weeks ago said nah we don’t need it and save the money. Well today I won a raffle for a $1000 Expedia gift card, and we’re taking it as a sign to go have fun.
My question is, where should we go? This will be our first time planning travel ourselves, too. We would like to stay in the US if it’s more cost effective, but I know some places outside of the US travel wise are more affordable. I also have been out of the country a couple of times, so I do have experience in that realm of travel. I’m not a huge outdoors person, like camping and wilderness, activities I do like though. My first thought is let’s go somewhere where it’s all inclusive if it’ll be the best cost wise. We’re also open to winter trips and skiing, as we don’t get snow. Cost effective doesn’t mean as cheap as possible, but not crazy expensive every day and not horrendous air fare. Please give whatever recommendations you have or your favorite trip you’ve taken with your significant other, we’d really appreciate it!
Extra info- We can travel whenever and we are from Texas, the gift card doesn’t expire, preferably this year though. I’ve been to San Pedro, Belize (absolute favorite trip ever), went on a cruise to Cozumel, Las Vegas, Branson, Missouri, I’ve been to Disney World a couple of times, Scottsdale, Arizona, New Orleans, Georgia. Not opposed to going back anywhere I’ve been.

We are flexible on which month to travel, and will base it on best weather for wherever we decide on. Cost ideally under $5000/person. We'd be flying from DTW. We often visit San Francisco/Boston/Chicago based on our kids. US places we don't want include Florida, TN, most of south US, TX (I lived there). My ideal place would be somewhere where we stay in one spot and take public transportation for day trips or to second locations. I have anxiety about driving in new places. - ISO stateside (usa) couple’s destinationmy boyfriend (28m) and i (25f) are looking to plan our first couple’s trip. since it’s the first, ideally we’d like to keep it somewhat budget friendly. we would be flying out of nyc, and want to keep the destination within the states before branching out internationally. we’d like somewhere with a mix of activities/things to check out and beach availability. trying to plan for sometime in july for about 5 days or so. initially i was considering florida, cali, or possibly south carolina. neither of us have traveled very extensively, so any more experienced input would be awesome :) not really looking to club or get too heavy into nightlife, somewhere with a good scene to shop, eat, and sightsee, maybe visit a theme park (destination contingent) or a historic area, and spend some time beaching. if possible somewhere where we don’t need to rely on a rental car would be great too, but if necessary we’ll factor that into our budgeting. any recommendations are much appreciated! thank you for the help in advance :) submitted by /u/cgrace391 [link] [comments]
