my boyfriend (28m) and i (25f) are looking to plan our first couple’s trip. since it’s the first, ideally we’d like to keep it somewhat budget friendly. we would be flying out of nyc, and want to keep the destination within the states before branching out internationally.
we’d like somewhere with a mix of activities/things to check out and beach availability. trying to plan for sometime in july for about 5 days or so. initially i was considering florida, cali, or possibly south carolina. neither of us have traveled very extensively, so any more experienced input would be awesome :)
not really looking to club or get too heavy into nightlife, somewhere with a good scene to shop, eat, and sightsee, maybe visit a theme park (destination contingent) or a historic area, and spend some time beaching. if possible somewhere where we don’t need to rely on a rental car would be great too, but if necessary we’ll factor that into our budgeting.

So will hers be by the time we take our first trip most likely. We are from the southeast of the US. Neither of us have really been out of the south, at all. I have been as far as the keys, and dallas (I was not in charge). No farther north than NC. We like to take day trips. Do that once every month or two. First trip I/we ever took where I was in charge was new year this year we went to hilton head and got an airbnb for the weekend. But I wanna start taking big trips. I have never flown. I also am not ready financially for this right now (obviously just wanna plan for now), but would like to be ready to take my first big trip within 6 ish months. My biggest places on my bucket list are New england, Pacific northwest, and California. More specifically: - Boston + cape cod/nantucket/marthas vineyard in the summer, Acadia national park, portland maine, and driving through the region in the fall. Also wanna try lobster rolls - Portland/Seattle, cannon beach, oregon/washington coast + nature, maybe olympic national park (and other good nature spots out there) Also wanna try their coffee. - orange county and san diego (yes san diego and not LA with orange county, I am not necessarily against LA, but SD is more my style) Also wanna try their mexican food. - Sacramento, lake tahoe, and yosemite. Things that are important in helping choose a place include cool swimming water, cleanliness, friendly people or at least not rude, good food/coffee/chill bar scene, populated but not overcrowded, mix of nature/coast/city/crazy landscapes we’ve never seen before. etc. Also, my girlfriend wants to do these things too but isn’t nearly as picky as I am and trusts me to plan as long as we discuss and agree on what we do. Any tips, ideas, places I didn’t list I should add, etc all would be good. My budget I am thinking might be 2.5k low end to 3.5k high end, stay maybe a week ish? Not sure, open to suggestions these aren’t firm. Dates maybe sometime between august and october, but again nothing set in stone. - Looking for a fun destination in June22M, based out of the east coast of United States. I start a new job in July so I wanted to plan a vacation beforehand. Flights to Europe are outrageous and it’s sort of last minute for that. I’m considering going to a few national parks in the US with 2 of my friends. I also have not been to the West coast of the US before so that’s something to consider. I am also open to solo traveling. I would also be very open to visiting lesser known destinations. - Best place to travel in late July-early August?Hello My husband and I have been wanting to plan a trip outside the US for quiet a while now. Our budget for flights would be under $1.7k each. We’re from a very small town between PDX and LAX so we’d most likely roadtrip down to one of those airports since they’re bigger. No set budget for the overall trip since we’re just researching but preferably nothing too crazy expensive haha! We’re very new to traveling but really want to make the best of our early 20s. So far we’ve only gone to Mexico but want to explore other places in the world. We love both nature and tropical places. We enjoy hiking, beaches, exploring city life, shopping, hot springs…essentially anything outdoors/cheaper ways to enjoy vacation! - Abroad with SO recommendationsHello! This is an extremely exciting post for me. My (22M) GF (22F) has just recently told me she wants to get out of her comfort zone a bit and travel with me. I am so unbelievably excited, and my thoughts and ideas have been racing. With that said, I need some recommendations on where to go. For context, we have between 6-8 days, and would be flying out of Boston, Massachusetts in August. I have been across much of Europe, with the exception of some heavy hitters like Portugal, much of southern Spain, Italy, Norway, and Greece. I have done a lot of that solo though, and now that she wants to come with me I am not sure of what would be a more romantic, couples destination. I was thinking the Croatian coast (Split down to Dubrovnik and maybe into Montenegro), Porto and Lisbon, Costa Brava in Spain. She wants to be by the ocean, and that’s pretty much it.
