Help me choose: Amalfi Coast vs Tuscany!
Our take
Hi! I'm planning a 10 day trip to Italy in early July with my boyfriend. We're definitely starting in Rome and ending in Sardinia (we love beaches), but can't decide between Amalfi Coast and Tuscany for the middle part of the trip.
Amalfi coast: we'd stay in Sorrento, explore Positano, see Pompeii, and do a Capri boat trip, but I'm worried it might feel repetitive to Sardinia.
Tuscany: I'm concerned there won't be enough things to do besides driving around the countryside and visiting the towns (San Gimignano, Siena, Val d'orcia). We're more into activities than just exploring, and not big city people (we'd only spend ~1 day in Florence). That said, Tuscany just seems so unique and beautiful and like a quintessential Italian experience, so I'm worried about missing out on that.
What should I choose? Any activity suggestions for Tuscany?
Thanks!!

- Romantic Italy tripHello- looking for tips on an Italy trip for me and my boyfriend. He really wants to do Italy but I have been a bunch of times and I’ve done most of the obvious places- Rome, Florence, cinque terre, Taormina, almalfi (and sorrento), Venice, Dolomites, Verona, como, lake garda and Tuscany. I’m truly at a loss for where to go- do I repeat somewhere amazing like Tuscany or branch out somewhere new? I’ve had my eye on Calabria, puglia, Sicily, capri (I did a day trip once but never stayed), Sardinia, lake orta and borolo region. Our main want is long lazy days maybe drinking some wine and cute cobblestone alleys to get lost in. We will be doing two places and we prefer one of them be lake or beach. I am looking for advice on what would be best for July- you guys have never steered me wrong, I trust you fully!! Thanks so much!! submitted by /u/External_Word3442 [link] [comments]
- Italy Places to visit around Almafi that aren’t over crowded late JuneHi everyone! I’m planning a trip to Italy for late June and would love some advice from people who know the area well. We are a group of 4 (2 couples) and are in our late 20s. We fly into Florence and fly out of Rome. We plan to train south to attend a wedding in Puglia. So, we’re looking for suggested places to stay for 5 nights in between Florence - Puglia. Right now I’m considering places like Sorrento, Procida, Ischia, and Salerno. Would love to be close to the ferry to see the Almafi Coast from the water. Also open to great hidden gems as well! Here is a snapshot of our plan: \-Florence/ Tuscany 3 nights \-??? 5 nights \-Fasano/Ostuni 3 nights \-Rome 2 nights We enjoy outdoor activities like hiking, boating, and beach hopping and hope to explore authentic restaurants and bars. All suggestions are welcome. Thank you! (: submitted by /u/Substantial_Arm_6648 [link] [comments]
- Amalfi coast or Santorini + other Greek islands?Going on a trip for a week in July and we have refundable hotel and airfare booked for positano. But after chatting with a few friends, I’ve heard mixed reviews on Amalfi coast. Some people stay in sorrento, some highly recommend positano. But after reading threads here it looks like it’s very touristy and not worth the prices and crowds. I’m wondering if maybe it would be better to go to Amalfi coast on a different month. In contrast, I was thinking to do few days in Santorini (which I know is very touristy but want to check it off the box) and then another Greek island for a couple of days for more R&R. Does anyone have any suggestions? For reference, I’ve traveled to 30 countries, and haven’t hit these places yet since I knew we would eventually get to them. submitted by /u/SwordfishAccording75 [link] [comments]
