How far in advance should i book my seat reservation.
Our take
Hey there, fellow adventurer! 🌍 If you’re planning an epic interrail journey through Europe from June to August, booking your seat reservations is key to a smooth ride. While your Interrail pass gives you access to various trains, many routes, especially high-speed trains in Italy, require advance reservations. It's best to book your seats a few weeks ahead to ensure availability, especially during peak travel times. Let’s dive into the details of the reservation process and how to make the most of your journey! 🚄✨
Hi!! I’m going interrailing from the start of june to the start of august. my destinations include
-ghent
-krakow
-prague
-vienna
-budapest
-ljubljanna
-venice
-florence
-rome
-naples
i have an interrail pass but with that you obviously still need to book seat reservations. I’m wondering how long in advance i should book them or if i could just hop on whilst im there? i know high speed trains in italy might need more in advance but not sure how long? Also if anyone could give any insight into book the seat reservation with interrail process that would be greatly appreciated!

- First time interrailing, need advice.I posted this in r/Interrail too, but would love to get your input as well! Hi, Me and five friends are going interrailing for the first time and as we have started doing the math, we are feeling a bit overwhelmed by the costs. We are looking to get some wisdom and tips from the experienced travelers in this sub. Duration: 15-16 days Time of the year: Early July Route: Starting from Sweden > Amsterdam > Interlaken > Milan > Rome > (by boat Ancona- Split) Split > Ljubljana > Budapest > Vienna > Prague Our target budget: We were initially hoping to keep the total cost for the trip around 2500 euro per person. We have started looking into accommodations and activities to get an estimate on the cost, but the cost is looking unreasonably high compared to what we have read from other travelers. (Disclaimer, we have a prima donna that won't have a shared bathroom with randoms.) A few questions we have: Is it better to book Airbnb's and hotels in advance or just days before arriving? How much did you spend on food per day? Should we reserve all seats way before? Even optional? What are you general interrail tips? What rookie mistakes should we avoid? Any tips on how we could bring the total sum down would be highly appreciated! We really appreciate any advice, budget and general. - But Interrail Pass Or Book Trains?A group of 6 of us are travelling around mainland Europe for about 15 days in June and can’t decide whether to book our trains individually or go for an interrail pass. Our route is Zagreb → Ljubljana → Lake Bled → Salzburg → Prague → Berlin, we have booked our accommodation and we are staying for around 2–3 nights in each place. We will be flying in and out. When we’ve priced things up, It is hard to gage, some websites show booking trains as cheaper in theory, however i have seen that salzburg-prague and prague-berlin is showing as £85-£100 to book individually. We are slightly worried about how fixed everything would feel doing it that way, and it would seem a bit stressful, especially if plans change or we want to stay somewhere longer/leave earlier, so maybe the pass would be more beneficial, especially since there is a larger group of us, and would allow for everyone to get what they want to do done in the day. For anyone who’s done a similar trip, did booking everything in advance feel as restrictive as it can seem or more stressful (especially if people are running late) or is it manageable once you’re there? I’m trying to work out whether the extra flexibility is actually worth it in practice, or if we’re overthinking it. We are all students so the budget matters, but we also don’t want to spend the whole trip stressing about timings. Any advice or experiences would be really helpful :) thank you! submitted by /u/coopz_05 [link] [comments]
