Mauritius in October

Our take

Hey everyone! I’m excited to share our epic adventure in Mauritius this October! We flew Emirates via Dubai, scoring round-trip tickets for about $2.3k for both of us. Renting a car at the airport was a game-changer, as it allowed us to explore the island freely. We enjoyed a luxurious stay at Le Meridien Ile Maurice, complete with stunning views and snorkeling right on the beach, before heading to the RIU Palace near Le Morne for more exploration.

Hey everyone,

I want to share a bit of our experience of a trip to Mauritius.

We flew via Dubai with Emirates, tickets were around $2.3k round trip for both of us. After landing, we rented a car at the airport (Subaru Jimny, $500 for 10 days). If you’re thinking about it, definitely do it. Driving around the island makes a huge difference.

First 4 days we stayed at Le Meridien Ile Maurice in the north. We had a Romantic Allure Suite in the adults-only area, pretty good service, several restaurants and bars, a few pools, and even snorkeling right by the hotel.

Then we moved to RIU Palace near Le Morne. It’s simpler, but the location is great if you want to explore the south.

What we did:
— went out to see whales and dolphins (worth it)
— took a helicopter ride over the island — probably the highlight
— drove around to different scenic spots

Overall impression: Mauritius is a nice balance between just chilling and actually exploring. Having a car helps a lot.
