Traveling internationally for the first time & have some questions.
Our take
I am taking a carry on & a checked bag.
I understand that my checked bag has to be no more than 50lbs & that liquids have to be smaller than 3.4 oz & for in 1 zip lock bag.
Questions:
1) For the liquids, does the size matter for liquids on my checked bag too? Or does it only apply to my carry on?
2) Will I be able to take snacks & a closed water of my own onto the plane?
3) what are your must haves for a carry on? In mine, I currently have my iPad, sunglasses, cough drops, airpods, earbuds, passport & ID, wallet, camera, pads, wipes, sanitizer, portable charger, & glasses. Is there anything else I should take aside from this?
4) In my checked bag, I have my clothes, footwear, bikinis, undergarments, makeup, skincare, & hair items. Is there anything else I should take with me aside from this?
5) Also, are there any special tips or suggestions you guys would recommend for me as it being my first time on a plane? To make the process easier & things to keep in mind & watch out for?

- Carry-On Liquid BagHey everyone! Apologies if this has been asked a bunch but I couldn’t find anything in the subreddit that answered my exact question. I’m traveling from New England to Orlando (Disney) next year and it’s been a hot minute since I’ve been on a plane! Planning in doing carry-on & personal item only. Also planning on flying one of the major airlines (SW, Delta, United, JetBlue, AA) and definitely getting TSA pre-check. My question is: How likely is it that I could pack my carry-on liquids in a clear case versus a baggie and not be flagged? I’ve seen people all over TikTok say it’s totally fine but thought I’d bring it here to get more insight. I want to get the Calpak Small Clear cosmetics bag (https://www.calpaktravel.com/products/small-clear-cosmetics-case) it’s 8.25” x 6” x 4”. Thanks in advance for all your insight!! submitted by /u/Electrical-Gur2022 [link] [comments]
- Traveling Overseas For The First TimeHello, next month my family is traveling to France with our priest and other church members. I’m really excited but have never gone overseas before, and I haven’t flown on a plane since 1994! I could use some traveling tips. -I was thinking of bringing one carry-on with as little clothes as possible. Is there a travel size laundry detergent where I could wash clothes in the hotel sink? Or is there a better way of doing this? -I was going to bring a backpack but someone suggested an over the shoulder bag to prevent stealing. Do you have suggestions on a good kind? -What did you bring on the plane to keep you busy besides your phone? -Any other tips? Thank you! submitted by /u/Mother-Laugh2395 [link] [comments]
- Flying to Japan First TimeHello all, I'm about to be a first time flyer to Japan this year for a family trip, but I would like to know about some things first about the flight part mainly. First, I have medication for blood pressure and it looks like it is allowed, but it does say less than 30 days supply. Should I bring it in the original bottle and take out the rest or should I put how much I need in a bag and write the name on it or maybe see about getting a label? Second, I have a cpap machine I use at home which I will be bringing. Will I need to put this on my carry on? It does have its own carrying case I put it all in, so I was wondering if I should just use a backpack for it or just put it in my luggage. Third, how is ZipAir? I've been looking online and it all seems fine, but I do wonder if its not just better to spend a bit more on a different airline, and any suggestions are open for me. Also for ZipAir, how does the in flight meals work? Last, anything I need to make sure I have on me instead of in my checked luggage aside from my identification items? EDIT: I am flying from San Francisco I should point out. I forgot to ask but how early should I arrive for international flight? submitted by /u/Pretty-Fudge-4883 [link] [comments]
- Flying abroad for the first time as an adult - advice please 🙏 UKIm flying solo from UK to Finland at the beginning of July and want to be as prepared as possible as I have no idea what I'm doing. Some things in particular that I'm clueless about: .GHIC NHS card. Is this something I should apply for? .Travel insurance. How do I know who to go with and what kind to get, if there are even different types? (They offered it when I booked my flights but Google said they generally hike the price if you buy with the airline and to get it seperately.) .Can I use vaccum sealed bags in my luggage as I'm only taking a carry on for a 10 day trip? (Flying with Ryanair) . When do I check in for my flight? . I have a prescription medication. Do I need special forms or something to bring this with me? .How early should I be at the airport flying from Stanstead at around midday mid week? Any other advice/tips appreciated 🙏 submitted by /u/Flat_Pea3377 [link] [comments]
