Vietnam and Maldives or Malaysa and Maldives?

Our take

Hey everyone! I'm excited to plan a three-week adventure with my girlfriend this February. After an amazing time in Thailand last year—enjoying the street food, Bangkok's stunning skyline, and the beautiful nature—we're now torn between two options. Should we explore Vietnam for two weeks and then unwind in the Maldives for a week, or would two weeks in Malaysia followed by a week in the Maldives be better?

Hi guys, I'm planning a three-week trip with my girlfriend in February.
We already went to Thailand last February and loved it; street food, Bangkok's stunning skyline, nature, and the sea.
Now we're undecided about our next vacation: whether to combine two weeks in Vietnam with a week in the Maldives, or two weeks in Malaysia with a week in the Maldives.
What do you recommend? Have you already done an itinerary like this?

Or otherwise could you recommend a similar itinerary in Southeast Asia, always leaving a week in the Maldives as the final destination?

Thank you very much in advance
