Where to visit from Milan
Our take
So, in a few weeks I'm going on a vacation. We're 3 people, it's gonna be a 7 day travel, and we booked an appartment in Milan for the whole trip so we wouldn't be carrying the bags all the time. The day we arrive we are going to explore Milan. The last day is to pack bags and go back to the airport. We are left with 5 days to visit other places.
We were looking into visit Florence, Verona, Lake Como, Lake Garda, Lugano and maybe do the Bernina train. This are all options to do on this vacation and we are trying to choose what to do, in each day.
For example, for me, Lake Garda, Florence and Lugano are priorities but I'm not the only on vacation. But we are flexible and have about the same tastes.
For people from there and who have traveled there, how would you advice organizing this, where to go, what advices do you have? Should we book train tickets right now before going or it's fine booking them on the spot? What about the boats if we go the the lakes?
Thank you in advance.

- Lake Garda for 4 nightsHi all, I am planning a trip to North Italy (possibly 13-17th May, before it gets too hot for us) - thought about Venice but settled on 4 nights in Lake Garda with half a day or so in Verona before our flight back. I have been doing research, and really want to experience Riva and Sirmione, as well as possibly Limone? (suggestions are very welcome). I am unsure how to divide our hotels, for example should I spend 2 nights in Sirmione and 2 nights in Riva? Or should I spend all 4 in a town halfway between? We will probably only have a backpack each as luggage, so moving hotel isn't as big of an issue than if we had big suitcases. At first I even considered a different hotel every night going around the lake, but maybe that is too busy as we still want a relaxing holiday. Does anyone have any advice on what towns we should visit during our 4 nights, (5.5 days ish) and whether we should stay in the same hotel or if it is a good idea to move? Or should we stick to one side? Many thanks in advance! \#lakegarda #italy #verona submitted by /u/Own_Duty2374 [link] [comments]
- First time Europe trip Itinerary (early draft)Making my first trip overseas. I’m an experienced road tripper on the lower 48 but this will be a new experience. I have done some research but wanted the perspective of real people who have been there before Heading out in Early September. Fly into Milan. Planning on spending 3 days in Northern Italy. After that head up to the Jungfrau area of Switzerland to spend 3 days there. Then off to Germany for a couple days. Be visiting my Aunt and Uncle near Ansbach for a couple days. Thinking about stopping at the castle of Mad King Ludwig on the way up. After that head down to Austria to spend a day. Then it will be off to Slovenia to spend 4 full days. Then end the trip with a trip to Plitvance Lakes National Park before flying home out of Zagreb. Thoughts? I am having trouble narrowing down Italy. Sounds like the Dolomites will be difficult to fit in with going to Switzerland after. For my interests of Nature, history, and local culture Verona sounds like a must. Then either Lake Como or Venice. I have heard mixed reports on Venice. Some say it has one of the best preserved history you can find. Others says it’s overrated, overcrowded, and the canals stink. I’m also unsure what to do in Austria. Any suggestions to compliment the other stops? submitted by /u/80GradeScrewball [link] [comments]
