Which city in East Asia for 3-4 days?
Our take
Looking to spice up your East Asia adventure? With a vibrant nightlife and delicious street food at the forefront of your priorities, consider extending your trip to Seoul, Hong Kong, or Taipei! Each city offers a unique blend of culture, bustling markets, and exciting bar scenes. Whether you want to explore Seoul's lively neighborhoods, dive into Hong Kong's culinary delights, or enjoy Taipei's night markets, you're in for an unforgettable experience. Let’s explore the best options that align with your foodie and nightlife dreams!
For context, I’m staying in Japan for about 2 weeks and thinking of extending my trip a few more days and hit another country. My top priorities are nightlife (street markets, bars, etc) and food. Probably won’t do much hiking since I’ll be doing a lot of that in Japan.
Right now I’m between Seoul, Hong Kong and Taipei but not sure which one. Would love any insight or recommendations. Doesn’t have to be just these either if there’s another place that would be interesting.

- Visiting 4-6 countries in East Asia/Southeast Asia possible in 4 weeks?Hey guys, I'm planning to take a big trip to East Asia and Southeast Asia sometime this year! I wanted some help and suggestions on places to go. I have about 28 days (4 weeks) I can use to do the trip. Here is my rough itinerary so far: Japan (10-12 days). I've already been to Japan but I loved my first visit so I want to visit again. Vietnam (7-10 days). This will be my first time in Vietnam as an adult. But like Japan, Vietnam is a country I want to definitiely visit when I'm in Asia. Other places I want to visit, if I have time: Hong Kong (loved it the first time and it's been over 10 years since i last went, so I want to go again) Shanghai and Beijing in China: I've never been, but was always interested in them Philippines: Never been, but I heard it's really cheap and lots of beauty. These are maybes for me: Thailand: I heard Thailand is nice and the food is great, but I guess I'm not that interested South Korea: I've already been to South Korea, it was alright but not a big deal for me Taiwan: Taiwan is beautiful but I've already visited so it's not top priority for me Right now, here's my plan: 10-12 days in Japan 7-10 days in Vietnam 2-3 days in Hong Kong 2-3 days somewhere else in Asia What do you guys think? Am I stretching myself too far? Or do you have other places I should visit instead? Would love to hear your suggestions. submitted by /u/ellie209 [link] [comments]
- 2 weeks in Taiwan, what other city worth staying?I've been to Japan and Korea multiple times in the past, but this will be the first time in Taiwan. It will likely be my family so 3-4 people total on this trip some time in September. I was mainly wondering what other city is worth staying in other than Taipei, and if we do what would that city be? I've heard Tainan, Taichung, and Kaohsiung come up a lot. We'll likely exclusively walk and use public transit and I've heard some of the cities outside of Taipei aren't really tourist/walking friendly as Taipei is, so that would be my main concern is if we do spend 3 or so days in another city I'd want the transportation to be very simple. Depending on what other city we choose to stay in I'd think immediately going there as soon as we arrive makes more sense to minimize moving hotels with luggage and stuff. I'd like to spend the majority of our time in Taipei and use that as the home base. Is that feasible? I've heard you can use the HSR to go to a lot of other parts of Taiwan and come back later in the day to Taipei no problem. submitted by /u/NeoKorean [link] [comments]
