26m thinking of heading to Madeira solo

Our take

Hey, adventurers! 🌟 I’m planning a solo trip to the stunning island of Madeira in the second week of July, and I can’t wait to dive into its epic hikes, charming towns, and vibrant culture! While I know most trails require a tour for drop-off and pick-up since I can’t rent a car, I’d love to hear your recommendations and tips for making the most of my stay. I’m considering staying in Funchal or a central town for easy access.

I’m thinking of heading to Madeira for a solo trip, really want to see all of the main hikes, local towns and culture and have a nice relaxing stay.

Obviously it’ll be quite some effort doing the hikes and I’m aware most of the you need a tour to drop off and pick up as I won’t be able to rent a car sadly but I’m just looking for any other recommendations or tips people have for when I visit.

Was thinking 2nd week of July this year and either staying in Funchal or one of the other smaller towns more central for easier access to things.

Any info or recommendations is appreciated :)
